Henrik Edberg had a novel way of giving up coffee. He decided to do it when he was bedridden with a nasty cold.
He was actually consuming 3 or more cups a day before that which is a sizeable habit to change, and the cold turkey withdrawal would have been pretty severe.
When he got the cold he knew he’d be spending a few days in bed feeling terrible and exhausted, so he figured he didn’t have much to lose. At the end of the week he’d fully recovered and now is proudly caffeine-free.
Some of the benefits he’s felt are:
- Improved focus
- Less prone to procrastination
- Feeling calmer
The whole experience was more positive that he expected and he appreciates having a more even energy-curve throughout the day.
